Greenbrook Pygmys – Make Excellent pets!
|
We have built our herd up with great care selecting our females from far and wide as types true to the desired standard
for pygmy goats and after searching for over a year we found the perfect billy to complete our little breeding herd.
We would never advise anyone to keep just one goat. They are naturally herd animals and a solitary goat would be a very
sad and lonely creature so, like most reputable breeders, it is our policy to only sell kids in pairs unless they are
going to join an established herd.
You do NOT need acres of space to keep a couple of pygmy’s. A small garden shed is ample accommodation and, so long as
you feed plenty of hay they do not even need grazing space, although they do appreciate access to a bit of grass to play
on. All our kids will be wormed and vaccinated before they leave home. They wlll also have tags in both ears, as required
by law.
To keep goats of any kind, you are required to have a CPH number but this is simply aquired by ringing DEFRA and there
is no cost. You must have this before collecting your kids as they are unable to travel without it.
If you just want loveable, affectionate pets, please consider a pair of wethers! (Castrated males). They DON'T smell,
DON'T eat the washing off the line and DON'T rush up and butt your bottom! They actually make very loveable and
affectionate pets and are less expensive to buy than females.
All our kids will have horns as we really don’t feel there is any need to have them removed. This is our personal choice.
We like to give our babies the very best start possible so we leave them with their mums until they decide to wean them
naturally. Generally this is at about 3-4 months old.
So, although you won’t be able to take them home right away they are usually chosen and reserved very quickly so if you
would like to come and have a look after the kids are born and have bonded with their mums you are very welcome. A deposit
of £100 for females and entire males and £50 for wethers ensures that you get the kids of your choice.
